Zero Sum Games Realm Studio
Zero Sum Games is the developer of Realm Studio, a free, open source Windows application for quickly and easily creating fantasy maps for gaming, world-building, writing, or whatever else you imagine.
Realm Studio includes powerful but easy-to-use features for making beautiful maps without the steep learning curve that most graphics software requires. The main land areas of your map you simply paint using your mouse. Realm Studio automatically adds shading and artistically textured coastlines for you. You can quickly add a background to your map, with shading around the edges in whatever color you choose. Add a hex or square grid, a frame, and a scale to your map with just a few mouse clicks. Choose an artistic theme for your map that sets the background, textures, colors, and other styles, and then override any of the settings however you want.
Realm Studio will also automatically generate islands, archipelagos, atolls, regions, continents, and the landforms for an entire world for you.
You can create grayscale heightmaps of your land areas, and view them in the included 3D viewer, and export them to 3D modeling or game engine software.

View your world as a 3D globe that you can rotate and view from any angle. Set lighting, cloud cover, and background image for the globe, and create an AVI video of your world as it is rotating.

Can’t think of a name for something in your map? Realm Studio includes a powerful random name generator that can generate at least hundreds of thousands of different names in dozens of different fantasy and real languages.

Adding more name generators and namebases for languages is easy – you can even create your own easily – but the Realm Studio name generator has so many options already, you probably will never need to.
The list of features in Realm Studio is long, but it is 100% free and open source. There are no in-app purchases, no trial period, and no advertising. It’s just free. Realm Studio also comes with hundreds of free assets for you to use to populate and decorate your map, and importing additional assets is easy.
All of the source code for Realm Studio is hosted on Github at https://github.com/PeteNelson372/RealmStudio, but you can just download the RealmStudio.msi installation file from the Releases pane and run it. There is also a detailed User Manual and Help File located at https://petenelson372.github.io/RealmStudioDocs/ Realm Studio is also planned to be available from the Microsoft Store soon.
